Advocacy
TAGT works on behalf of the gifted education community to increase statewide and local support for gifted and talented issues. TAGT monitors legislative activity and maintains relationships with state agencies in order to provide expert gifted education resources and input for policymakers. Members receive legislative and information regarding policy considerations and activities focused specifically on topics affecting gifted education.

Community
Make valuable contacts to share advice and resources. Networking opportunities are available through conferences, committees and #gtchat, a Twitter forum that allows participants to share resources and ideas.

Discounts
TAGT Professional Members are afforded member discounts on professional development opportunities offered by TAGT. Members save on event registration and On Demand opportunities.

Education
Highly regarded in the G/T community, TAGT offers exceptional education and assessment tools dedicated to improving the proficiency of gifted educators. Members can receive valuable information and guidance by partaking in the TAGT Learning On-Demand Series, attending conferences or by completing professional development training.

News & Publications

  • TAGT Pulse is a weekly e-newsletter exclusively for TAGT members. Consisting primarily of current articles from around the country, TAGT draws relevant information you should be aware of regarding gifted education. Topics include Technology and Science, Parenting the Gifted, Texas Education Funding and Politics and more.
  • TEMPO is the official peer-reviewed journal of TAGT. Its mission is to promote awareness of issues in gifted education and to provide information on research and best practices in the field. As a member benefit, you will receive a digital subscription to TEMPO. TAGT Professional members receive a mailed hard copy of this valuable journal.

Scholarships
Since 1982, TAGT has awarded over one million dollars in assistance to over 3000 gifted and talented students across Texas. TAGT Summer Scholarships award up to $400 to gifted students grades K-12; this scholarship helps pay for participation in specialized programs and camps of interest to these learners. TAGT also offers two $2500 college scholarships to graduating high school students identified as gifted. Finally, TAGT selects two students in grade 6-10 to attend the Summer Mathematics Institute, hosted by the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science at the University of North Texas.

Enhance your membership involvement by joining a TAGT Division (Gifted Plus, Leadership, Research or Parent). Depending on your membership level, participation in one or two divisions of your choice is complimentary.


Parent Support Group Membership

Parent Support Groups (PSG) are organizations that have been established to provide parents of gifted students with knowledge and resources, usually within a local school district or private school.

Active Parent Support Group (PSG) Membership Benefits:

Promotion
• Your local PSG website and contact information will be listed on the TAGT website. This will increase the visibility of your group for parents and other TAGT members.

Discounts
• Active PSGs will designate a PSG leader to receive the benefits of a TAGT professional membership (typically the local group president)
• Individual membership discounts for TAGT Membership are extended to parent members in your local group
• Based on memberships, Parent Support Groups can earn complimentary TAGT conference registrations to be distributed depending on needs of the local group

Resources
• TAGT will provide active groups with a selection of Learning on Demand™ courses. One course will be made available with training guidelines and discussion topics for the PSG.
• An opportunity for a TAGT representative to attend one of your PSG meetings annually (topics and date will be coordinated with the PSG Representative)

Leadership Development
• A representative of your group will receive a complimentary registration to the Annual TAGT Parent Conference, including an invitation to a special round table session with other PSG leaders from throughout the state

Advocacy
