Plan now to join nearly 2,000 educators and parents who share a passion for meeting the unique needs of gifted and talented students at TAGT’s 2013 Annual Conference from December 4-6, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Houston and George R. Brown Convention Center.

This unique experience features over 150 training sessions in fifteen strands of designated subjects for those who need training in different specialties, including a strand certified for CE Credits from the APA for psychologists. Additionally, a one-day Parent Conference will be held Friday, December 6.

Keynote Speakers
Opening General Session featuring keynote speaker:
Dr. Joyce Juntune is an Instructional Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University where she teaches courses in educational psychology, child development, intelligence, and creativity. Prior to coming to Texas A&M, Dr. Juntune served as the Executive Director for the National Association for Gifted Children for 10 years and the American Creativity Association for 5 years.

Closing General Session featuring keynote speaker:
Temple Grandin – Helping Different Kinds of Minds to Succeed
Dr. Grandin will share her personal story, as well as insights into the vibrant population we know as twice-exceptional children. Too often children who are gifted and diagnosed with a disability, get lost in an endless cycle of chasing diagnostic labels and are never given the tools to fully realize their potential. Come away with deeper insights into the challenges these learners face, as well as a fresh perspective on what we can do to help some of our brightest children succeed.

Temple Grandin is bestselling author, autism activist, and consultant to the livestock industry on animal behavior. She is the subject of an award-winning biographical film, Temple Grandin. Based on personal experience, Grandin advocates early intervention to address autism, and supportive teachers who can direct fixations of the child with autism in fruitful directions.
