Chartered in 1978, the Texas Association for the Gifted & Talented (TAGT) is the nation’s largest state advocacy group of its kind, providing more than 3,000 members a forum for exchanging ideas and information about the education of gifted and talented (G/T) students. TAGT recognizes the unique social, emotional, and intellectual needs of gifted and talented students and provides educational services to meet these needs.
TAGT is a statewide, individual membership association and is classified as a 501(c) 3 charitable nonprofit organization.
TAGT connects and empowers educators to meet the unique needs of a diverse gifted and talented community.
TAGT strives to positively impact the lives of gifted and talented individuals by providing relevant, innovative programs and services through an engaged, diverse membership.
In 2020, TAGT leadership adopted guiding principles to shape and inform the organization’s initiatives, programs, and services. These principles are:
TAGT connects and empowers families and educators to respond to the unique needs of gifted individuals. In order to strengthen our community, increase access, and benefit from divergent perspectives, TAGT will utilize the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion lens for all association endeavors.
TAGT is more than an association. It’s a community of educators and advocates working together to inspire, challenge, and support gifted learners across Texas.
In 2018, TAGT proudly celebrated its 40th anniversary. That milestone gave us the opportunity to reflect on four decades of advocacy, growth, and impact for gifted education across Texas. Today, we honor that history while continuing to build a future of innovation and equity for gifted learners.
