Each year, TAGT celebrates individuals whose service, leadership, and contributions make a meaningful impact on gifted education in Texas. Award recipients are honored during TAGT’s annual conference, giftED.
Awards are given in the following categories:
Nominations and self-nominations for the 2026 TAGT Awards are open. All nominees will receive additional information, including an invitation to apply, which must be completed by September 11. Recipients will be honored at giftED26, December 2–4 in Houston.
The TAGT Educator of the Gifted Award, sponsored by H-E-B, is presented annually to an active teacher of any experience level and teaching at any grade level (Pre-K–grade 12) in recognition of exemplary strategies in meeting the intellectual, social, and emotional needs of gifted students through the delivery of curriculum and instruction. The recipient will be provided with a complimentary registration to the giftED conference, a two-night hotel stay, and a $1,000 cash award.
The TAGT Administrator of the Gifted Award, sponsored by the Texas Academy of Mathematics & Science, is presented annually to an active school district or campus administrator who is responsible for creating and championing exemplary services for gifted students through campus or district-wide programming. The recipient will be provided with a complimentary registration to giftED and a two-night hotel stay.
The TAGT Advocate for the Gifted Award is presented annually to an individual working or serving in any capacity who has demonstrated exceptional efforts to increase awareness, understanding and support of the unique needs and characteristics of gifted students. The recipient will be provided with a complimentary registration to giftED, a two-night hotel stay, and lifetime membership in TAGT.
