Empowering New G/T Coordinators to Lead with Confidence

The TAGT Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is a dynamic, yearlong professional development experience designed for district-level G/T coordinators in their first three years. Through tailored training, mentorship, and hands-on learning, ELP participants gain the confidence, connections, and expertise needed to lead successful gifted education programs across their districts.

Who Should Apply

Ideal candidates include individuals who:

  • Are responsible for district-wide G/T program leadership
  • Are in their first three years of service in this position


District staff responsible for supervising the candidate must approve their participation. Candidates must commit to attending all program activities, identifying a personal goal and action plan, partnering with a mentor, and participating in a program evaluation. Program Timeline: 2026–2027 Cohort

  • February 23, 2026 – Applications Open
  • April 24, 2026 – Application Deadline
  • Week of May 11, 2026 – Applicants Notified
  • August 2026 – Sessions Begin

Program Fee

The fee for the 2026–2027 Emerging Leaders Program includes monthly sessions and registration for two TAGT conferences:

  • $999 for TAGT Leader Members
  • $1,229 for Non TAGT Leader Members

Program Experience

In addition to monthly online sessions during the school year, ELP participants will:

  • Attend two TAGT conferences:
    • giftED26 (December 2026)
    • Leadership Conference (Spring 2027)
  • Receive support through a tailored curriculum designed to meet their individual needs
  • Partner with a mentor for one-on-one guidance
  • Explore topics including:
    • Building and growing a G/T program
    • Aligning G/T goals with district priorities
    • Student assessment, service design, curriculum and instruction, professional development, and family/community involvement
